FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Product Questions

Q: How long will the king cake last?

A: Shipped King Cakes will maintain its freshness for 2-3 days after receiving. King Cakes purchased in-store will stay fresh for 3-5 days after buying. If you’re planning on serving the cake 2-3 days later, don’t open it up. Keep it out of direct sunlight, in a cool place. If you’re wanting to keep it longer, we suggest putting the king cake in the freezer upon receiving it. Then, take it out 3 hours before serving. It will thaw and be ready to serve.

Q: I have a peanut allergy….do your traditional King Cakes contain nuts?

A: For Peanut specific allergies- we do not have peanuts (including peanut butter) in the bakery. We do use Pecans or Walnuts in a few of our cakes. Most of our traditional King Cakes do not have nuts in them.  However, they are prepared around other products that have nuts, so it is possible that there has been contact with some type of nut or a product contacting nuts.  (Some filled King Cakes do contain nuts).

Q: What are the most popular filling choices?

Our Top 5 Flavors in order of Popularity are:

  1. Cinnamon ‘n’ Cream Cheese
  2. Cream Cheese
  3. Pralines ‘n’ Cream
  4. Strawberries ‘n’ Cream
  5. Bavarian Cream
Q: Does the cake come with the baby baked inside?

A: Due to the potential choking hazard, we cannot insert the plastic baby into the cake. Instead, the baby is placed in the center ring of each cake so that you can insert the baby yourself and still enjoy the tradition.

Shipping Questions

About Dates:

Q: I want a king cake delivered on a certain date, when should I order the cake?

A: We always suggest you place your order as soon as possible, because shipping dates do fill up quickly (especially towards the end of the season).

In the ordering process, you have the option to select your shipping date. This is NOT the date the King Cake is delivered to you. This is the date the King Cake is SHIPPED from our bakery. You will also select 2nd Day Air or Overnight.

Example: If you select a Monday as your Ship Date, choose 2nd Day Air, you should expect to receive your package by the end of the day on Wednesday.
*No delivery available on Saturday or Sunday!
*The only way to receive a King Cake ON Fat Tuesday is to select the Monday before as your Ship Date and choose Overnight Shipping at checkout.

Q: If I order today, when will my order ship?

A: When you place your order, you must select a specific shipping date within our shopping cart system. We will ship according to this timeline.  We ship via 2nd Day Air (or Overnight) from Northwest Louisiana. You can expect to receive your King Cake no later than 2 days from the ship date specified.

Q: Can I request a different shipping date than what your website offers?

A: No – Our baking and shipping policies are necessary to insure the freshest and most delicious product!

Q: Can I get a Saturday, Sunday, or Monday delivery date?

A: No. UPS only has delivery dates of Tuesday through Friday, depending on available shipping dates.

Q: Can I get my King Cake delivered on Fat Tuesday?

A: Yes. You must select a Ship Date for the Monday before Fat Tuesday. AND you will need to choose to have it shipped using UPS/FedEx Priority Overnight® (morning delivery) or UPS/FedEx Standard Overnight®.

About Addresses:

Q: I would like to place one order with multiple shipping addresses, is that possible?

A: No, each shipping address (or ship date) should be a separate order. Our system calculates shipping based on the shipping address you enter at checkout. Occasionally, when entering your information from your phone it may change the shipping address to the billing address, so please double-check this before you finalize the checkout process. For orders with more than 20 addresses you can call the shop (318-676-1407) and the shipping will email you a spreadsheet template.

Q: I have multiple orders that I’d like to ship to one location. Do I have to enter each order individually?

A: No, as long as they are all shipping on the same day to the same location you can add as many King Cakes as you like to your order.

Q: I accidentally entered the wrong address. What do I do?

A: When shipping, a correct address is essential. We want your cake to arrive on time and fresh. Please double and triple check the address before completing your order. There will be a $15 service charge for changes made after the order is submitted. Our Shipping Manager starts processing new orders as they come in, so you MUST speak to the Shipping Manager to get the address corrected. Please email us at orders@lilahsbakery.com to make a change in your shipping address.

Q: Can I send a King Cake to Alaska, Hawaii or a foreign address?

Yes & No. We ship King Cakes via UPS or FedEx all over the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. Unfortunately, we do not ship outside of the US, at this time.

Q: Can I send the king cake to someone who lives in an apartment?

A: Yes, HOWEVER, UPS may not leave the king cake at the door if no one is home. UPS may also not leave the cake if no one answers the door of an apartment building or complex. If this happens, UPS will leave a note on the door saying they attempted delivery and will be back again the next day to accomplish delivery. You can tell the UPS center and either pick up the king cake from them or they will attempt delivery again the next day. If someone you know lives in an apartment and you want to make sure they receive their cake, there are a few suggestions you can do:

  • You can call the recipient to get them to tape a permission note outside the door to the UPS delivery person. The note can instruct the driver to leave the king cake at the door or direct them to set it under a box or towel you’ve provided at the door. Another option is to instruct the UPS delivery person to bring the package next door to the neighbor’s door, provided they’re home. Keep in mind that the UPS drivers have hundreds of packages to deliver, so keep the message and instructions simple or they’ll end up putting a delivery notice on your door. Also keep in mind, if the apartment complex or area is not a “driver release” area even though you have a note on the door explaining to leave the package at the door, the UPS driver may elect not to leave it. However, if the permission note was on the apartment door to leave the king cake at the door and it gets picked up by someone else other than the recipient, UPS is not responsible for the package.
  • You can send the king cake to their place of employment (make sure you include the company name and the recipient’s name – even the department or suite number if available).
  • You can call the recipient to give them a “heads up” on the king cake delivery to make sure they are going to be home.

About the King Cake:

Q: Does the King Cake come decorated?

Recipients of our King Cakes experience the ultimate in freshness by participating in the decorating fun. Each cake is shipped fully decorated with 2 beads, a baby and a history of the King Cake.

Q: How long will the king cake last?

The king cake will maintain its freshness 2-3 days after receiving it. If you’re planning on serving the cake 2-3 days later, don’t open it up. Keep it out of direct sunlight, in a cool place. If you’re wanting to keep it longer, we would suggest to put the king cake in the freezer upon receiving it, and then take it out 3 hours before serving and it will thaw and will be ready to serve.

I’ve placed my order. Now what?

Q: What is my tracking number?

A: Tracking numbers are emailed to the email address who purchased the king cake. The tracking numbers are sent on the day the label is PRINTED. This is not the same as the day the order is SHIPPED. Your order will not ship until the date you selected when you placed your order. The information available on the Tracking Number will not update until AFTER the carrier has picked up the order (usually after 7 pm on your shipping date). Please check your email spam folder or search for emails sent from orders@lilahsbakery.com.

Q: Shipping Delays?

A: While KingCake.com and FedEx do everything in our power to ensure your order is delivered on the requested date, your king cake may be delayed.

Neither Lilah’s Bakery or FedEx/UPS are responsible for delay in the delivery of the package due to any of the following: weather related delays, plane delays, airport closures, or incorrect information supplied to us by the customer. Notice of a non-delivered package must be made within 7 days of original delivery date.

If for any reason your order arrives in an unsafe condition to enjoy once delivered, please reach out to our support team at orders@lilahsbakery.com with photos of the product as soon as the delivery is opened. We will provide you with a resolution that best fits your needs.

Q: What is your Refund Policy?

A: Due to the nature of our products, all sales are final. We do not offer returns or refunds. In cases where the product did not arrive in a timely manner, refunds will be negotiated between the buyer and the shipping company.
